genomic medicine in africa through data and eDucation

WHY

The goal of the United Genomes Project is to develop a comprehensive open genetic database of African populations and an educational platform for training students and scientists on the use of genetic data in medicine, a new field of medicine called genomic medicine.

Africa is the origin of all mankind and its peoples have the richest genetic diversity compared to those of all other continents. Yet, less than 10% of all the available genetic data today are from Africans. This needs to change.

So, we are establishing a means for generating genetic data from several African populations that will then be applied on an Education Platform for training the next generation of scientists in Africa and an Open Innovation Platform for attracting top innovators in data science and genomic medicine.
